Continuum of Assessment
The assessment continuum supports mastery of the standard above, because this standard
focus on letter-sound correspondence by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each
consonant/vowel. Students taking the pretest, it will allow me to see what students know and
compare their scores at the end of the unit. A continuum is necessary because students are
building skills throughout the unit as they complete lessons. At the beginning of the unit,
students will take a pretest, students will also be assessed daily through formative during
intervention, and through independent work. There are three lessons within each unit. At the end
of each lesson, students will complete a summative assessment. At the end of the unit students
will complete an interim/benchmark assessment. Each assessment provides information to me on
what my students are learning and if they are struggling before the final summative assessment.
