NURS 6630N Week 5 Assignment (2020) Topic: Middle-Aged White Male with Anxiety NURS- 6630N Approaches to Treatment 3/24/2020 Introduction One of the prevalent anxiety disorders is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) which is characterized by persistent, excessive, and anxiety that cannot be controlled and the client worries about their daily activities or event for greater six months (Newman, Cho, & Kim, 2017).According to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th Edition, DSM-V for client to be worry about things such as lifestyle, health, and finance is one of the factors that meet the anxiety criterion of GAD. Clients with GAD often have increase in nervousness about having any abnormal circumstances in their daily live such as job security, health issues, finances, and the well fair of their families (NIMH, 2016). Females are more affected than male and the client with GAD worry about their work/duties, health, safety, repairing car, and doing other chores (Beaton, 2017). One of the rating scale use to measure the severity of the anxiety symptoms is Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A).According to Chau et al., (2019), GAD is one of the common mental disorders that affect about 5.5% to 5.7% of the nation population. The main purpose of this paper is to assess and treat clients with GAD who requires anxiolytic therapy, support the decision making with clinical evidenced, and the ethical considerations that might impact the client’s treatment plan and ways to communicate with the client.
