Academic Need
One academic need that my students have is solving multi-step word
problems using all four operations (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction).
Many students have a hard time that a multi-step word problem is a process.
Over the course of the school year, students should learn various skills and
strategies to master grade level multi-step word problems. As the year
progresses, students should master grade level standards and then apply them to
solve multi-step problems.
Two EBP’s to implement
Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) in education can successfully contribute to
achieving goals because the instructional strategies, approaches, and
interventions have been thoroughly researched. One evidence-based practice
that will be relevant in helping me achieve my goal is to check for understanding.
“Research suggest that teachers typically spend a large amount of teaching time
asking questions” (Killian, 2016). However, few teachers use questions to check
for understanding during the actually lesson and this is crucial to do before
moving onto the next portion of the lesson (Killian, 2016). I want all students to
