A. Purpose of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Large and small companies alike need to be aware of and implement Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR). CSR is predominantly a self-regulating model for business that
encourages a company to be socially accountable to its stakeholders. CSR is specifically
designed to focus on an organizations external stakeholders.
is focused on organizational decisions, specifically on the external stakeholders. It is often
difficult for companies to differentiate from internal and external stakeholder decision-making,
as one often affects the other. There are three reasons organizations care about CSR: pragmatic,
ethical, and strategic reasons (Trevino & Nelson, 2014). Paradigm Toys will want to continue
CSR practices to allocate resources appropriately, improve the finances of the business, improve
decision-making, and contribute to the community.
Pragmatic reasoning considers the decision-making process and analyzes its effects on an
organization. The financial viability is important for Paradigm Toys for it to function and grow.
However, this is most likely not the sole purpose of the company. If a company focuses solely
on one aspect of the business, the bottom line for instance, the ethical culture can be jeopardized
for the purposes of profit. This can lead to both internal and external stakeholder dissatisfaction.
As in most cases of CSR when external stakeholders are dissatisfied with a product or service
from the company, the first thing they will do is vent to family, friends, and strangers. In today’s
age of social media, smart phones, and other modern technologies, we have the potential for
more people to be reached with the negative message if we don’t control it. It will not matter
