DNA-Replication
• The process by which a DNA forms its exact copy is called replication
replication, each DNA molecule gives rise to two DNA molecules, identical
other as well as to the parent molecule.
• Types of DNA Replication
DNA replication is of three types:
• Conservative replication: In this method, original double stranded DNA re
and form two daughter DNA having one strand completely old and othe
completely new one.
• Dispersive replication: In this method of replication, original DNA chain
and recombines in a random fashion. Therefore, both the newly form
molecules contain partly old and new strands.
• Semi-conservative replication: In this process both the strands of DNA s
Each strand act as template strand and will synthesize its complementary
As a result in each replica or daughter DNA, one strand has old strand w
other strand has new strand.
