that company’s code of ethics by doing the following:
Target was the chosen company, since my daughter worked there in high school.
1. Analyze how well the chosen company’s code of ethics covers the topic of
corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The provided code of ethics shows that Target takes its CSR seriously. Target
mentions protecting Earth’s resources and goes into detail about recycling
receptacles throughout each store, a whole page regarding ethics and others
regarding trust and the importance of conducting business fairly.
2. Analyze how well the chosen company’s code of ethics covers the topic of
compliance with legal mandates.
Target generously covers compliance and legal mandates in its section titled,
“conducting business fairly.” This section also breaks off into smaller sections that go into
great length about expectations for the employees that includes how to spot money
laundering and what to do in case of theft. Additionally, it gives an entire “what if” section
to assist employees with different scenarios in terms of ethics compliance. In terms of
compliance issues, they address bullying, employee privacy and whistleblowing without
retaliation. It is clear and sites actual laws and mandates so there are no questions about
expectations and conduct.
A. Describe the ramifications for an organization when it is
noncompliant with legal mandates.
When a corporation is non-compliant with state or federal legal mandates it
risks sanction and or penalties from state or federal entities. The labor board
can also force a company to pay a terminated employee’s wages owed that
were previously denied. Additionally, lawsuits can be brought against the
corporation and in some cases the state or federal government can have the
company shut down.
B. Describe two policies the chosen company has in their code of ethics to
ensure employees behave legally and/or ethically
Target has an Ethics decision making tool, where you will go through a
series of questions and at the end it will end with- do it- or -Don’t do it.
