Introduction
Imagine a world in which you are constantly devalued as a human being, treated as less
than others around you simply because of your gender. Women across the globe face issues just
like this on a daily basis. Simply because they are born female, women are faced with more
challenges and struggles in the workplace, in society, and even in their own homes than their
male counterparts. There are several ways that have been developed to measure the gap between
the treatment of men and women. Of these many ways, one thing has been made clear, it is
impossible to gage the entire globe based on one scale. There are several different factors that
affect the gap from cultural and spiritual beliefs, to both socially accepted societal rules, and
actual governmental laws varying from country to country. Globally, gender inequality has
hindered women for centuries and it has caused women to be viewed as less intellectual, less
important, and weaker than men, and there is no one fix solution, but there are a number of
solutions. Women can do many of the same things that men can, with the same intellectual
quality, because of this, occupational pay rates should be based on skill and educational
background, while simply teaching both genders from young ages that they have equal value can
help to eliminate gender inequality across the globe.
Problem
Gender inequality is not a problem that afflicts one small group of people. It is
something that, in many ways, afflicts the entire globe. Typically, when the words “gender
inequality” are mentioned, the thought is of women’s rights, and how men, for the most part,
have more rights than men. There was a point in time when women had very little to no rights at
all anywhere in the world, but in spite of this fact, there have been several powerful, intelligent
