P5 Explain the key features of employer and employee
relations and welfare

In this task I will be explaining the key features of employer and employee relations
and welfare.

With an organisation the employer and employee must have a sort of relation which
will be the employment relationship as it is the legal link between them. The legal link
is created when an employee works or provides a service within a specific condition
in exchange for remuneration.

The relationship between an employee and employer can include both individual
parties as well as collective relations. A collective relation can be defined as a
relation between employers' associations and trade unions as well as the role of the
state in regulating these relations.

[Gov.uk] states that a trade union is “an organisation with members who are usually
workers or employees”. Trade unions are there to look after employees and their
interests by negotiating agreements with employers and pay and conditions, discuss
big changes like large scale redundancy, discuss members' concerns with employers
and going with members to disciplinary and grievance meetings.

In addition, these relationships can broaden onto relationships between employers,
employees and the government. Employers can have a relationship with the
government as the government protects employers from receiving below the
minimum wage.
[Gov.uk] states that the minimum wage for a 21 to 24 year old is £7.70 therefore a 23
year old must receive at least £7.70 per hour as it will be against the law if they
receive any less.

Welfare between an employee and employer means, the way they are both treated
such as the effort to make them feel respected, comfortable and included.
An example of employee and employer welfare is an organisation such as
McDonald’s paying their staff more than the minimum wage. As a previous
employee, I can state that Mcdonald’s pay the staff who are older than the age of 18
will receive £6.50 per hour when the minimum wage is £6.15. This shows that the
company wanted to give their employees a little more funds so that they are able to
spend extra expenditure.

, P6 Describe the different policies of remunerations adopted in a selected business
organisation

In this task I be describing the different policies of remunerations adopted in a
selected business organisation.

Remuneration means the payment received by working for a business which is an
effective way of awarding as it motivates the employees to remain working within the
organisation as well as it may inspire others to apply and work for an organisation
such as McDonald’s. An annual bonus is an example of remuneration as well as
pensions, increased holiday pay, and discount cards.

Discount Card

McDonalds demonstrates a method of remuneration by giving their employees
discount cards.

The image shown is the employee temporary discount card which will be given to
new staff during their probation period which can be up to three months.
When the probation period has finished, employees will be given a discount card
which will allow staff to receive 30% off when purchasing items from Mcdonalds
outside working hours. When using the discount card, you are only allowed to order
twice using the same card. For security reasons, employees may be asked to
provide another type of identification in order to verify that the card belongs to them.
