o Recall the definmtion of perfusion in the Giddens' text: "Tissue perfusion refers (o the flow of blood
through arteries and capillaries delivering nutrition and oxygen to cells and removing cellular
waste products”. Perfusion refers to the "flow of bleod”.
o Perfusion is necessary for the concept of gas exchange 10 be normal. The defimtion of gas exchange
(from Giddens) is: "the process by which oxygen is transported to cells and carbon dioxide 15
transported from cells”.
As you can se¢ - these two concepts are closely related -~ if you don't have one, it is difficult for the
other to have done its "job".
