Essays for University Assignments
1️. Introduction
We’ve all stared at a blank page, wondering how to start an essay — it can be really stressful.
Don’t worry! Writing an essay is just a way to share your ideas clearly. If you stick to a
simple structure, your essay will make sense to the reader and look much better.
A clear structure also makes your life easier. You’ll know what to write next, and your reader
won’t get lost in long, confusing paragraphs.
2. Parts of an Essay
Think of your essay like a sandwich — each part has its purpose:
Introduction: The first bite — it tells the reader what’s inside. You explain your
topic and your main idea (thesis).
Body Paragraphs: The filling — these paragraphs explain your ideas and give
examples. Each paragraph should focus on one main idea.
Conclusion: The last bite — you wrap up everything and leave the reader thinking
about your essay.
3️. How to Write a Strong Introduction
A boring introduction can make your reader yawn. You want to hook them in and let them
know what is coming.
Hook: Start with something interesting — a funny fact, a question, or a tiny story
from your own experience.
Thesis Statement: Say your main point in 1–2 sentences.
o Example: “Time management is super important for university students
because it helps you finish assignments on time and avoid stress.”
Tip: Imagine explaining your essay to a friend — that’s how simple your intro
should feel.
