Article Title: Identifying strategies to minimize workplace conflict due to generational
differences

Article Summary
The new generations are entering into the workplace and the conflict of the generations is
arising in the workforce. The conflict in the workforce no matter what is the type of conflict
creates discomfort among the employees and harms the longevity of the employees and it is
counterproductive. The purpose of this paper was to investigate that what are the policies,
methods, techniques, training methods and the cultural changes that can be implemented by the
companies to manage the conflicts among the different generations of the workers. This article
conducted a literature review to find out whether the existing literature addresses the issues of
conflicts among the generations. The study also conducted the interviews of the professionals of
the human resource management and the business owners to get their experience on the issue.
The data were analyzed and compared with the existing literature and three strategies were found
that were being used by the companies to mitigate the conflicts among the generations.

The article has highlighted three strategies were found that were being used by the
companies to mitigate the conflicts among the generations. These strategies are:
1. Providing clear information and expectations to the employees (Lowe, D., Levitt, K., &
Wilson, T. 2008).
2. Requiring the job shadowing at certain level in order to appreciate the efforts of the
others (Murphy Jr., E. F., Gibson, J., & Greenwood, R. A. 2010).
3. Working with the local colleges in order to teach them the ways to act in the workforces
and what is expected of them (Macon, M., & Artley, J. 2009).
