• Computer networks are generally be organized using clients-server architecture.
• Clients request services from server systems. Servers supply services to clients.
• An access device is used to formulate, transmit, receive and display messages. Front-end ICT
systems would typically be regarded as the servers in a telecommunications network.
• Front-end ICT systems supply the data services and/or products for clients.
• The access channel is used to carry the message between users of access devices -
customers, suppliers, partners and employees - and the organization’s front-end ICT
systems.
• Front-end ICT systems may act as the clients of back-end ICT systems.
