A/C - Aircraft
A/C L (R) - Aircraft left or right. The side of the aircraft when standing in the cabin

ACARS - Aircraft communications addressing and reporting system.
ACM - Additional Crewmember
ACP - Area call panel. Installed in the cabin ceiling and contain colored lights that
indicate that calls from crew, lavatories, customers or smoke detection.
AED - Automated external defibrillator
AFA - Association of flight attendants
AFT - Near, towards or in the rear of the aircraft
AGL - Above ground level
AIP - Attendant indication panel, installed within the vicinity of all cabin crew stations
and provides visual feedback of interphone communication, passenger call, and cabin

Aircraft number - And identification number painted on the outside of the aircraft. Also

Block time - When an aircraft parks at the termination of a flight, rubber blocks or
"chocks"are placed on each side of the wheels to keep the aircraft from rolling. These
blocks are removed when the aircraft parts on another flight. "Block time" is the period
of time beginning when an aircraft first moves from the ramp for the purpose of flight,
and ends when the aircraft comes to a stop at the ramp at the next point after landing

CA or CAPT or Captain - Captain. The captain is designated as the pilot in command
(PIC) and has full responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft. She or he directs
all crewmembers in a manner which promotes maximum safety, efficiency, and
operational effectiveness. The captain is in command of the flight.
