2. How is a SWM 1. First, the SWM training process must be introduced and explained to the em-

the employee's shift. (Initial 3rd, Middle 3rd, and Final 3rd)
3. SWM begins with the first round of observations. Trainer marks any at risk method
observed as a "N" immediately. Any method not observed must be reviewed and
marked with an "R". Any method observed not marked as an exception will be
marked as a "Y" at the end of the observation period.
4. The trainer will provide the employees an Explanation of the at-risk safe work
methods observed.
5. The trainer will provide commentary by demonstrating the correct methods that
were marked with an "N" to the employee.
6. The trainer will Drill-Follow Up with the employee to ensure understanding of the
SWMs performed incorrectly by having the employee explain and demonstrate the
correct methods.
7. The employee will then conduct the SWM Drill Exercise for his or her specific job.
