Career Plan: Licensed Mental Health Counselor
My time as a nanny inspired me to pursue mental health counseling. My passion for
becoming a mental health counselor is the years I spent being a nanny and working with children
from various backgrounds. I want to achieve my dream so I can positively impact children's lives
and become a safe voice for them through advocating for their needs and care. As a mental health
counselor, I will work with children from various ethnic backgrounds, including minority groups,
and create a safe space where they can express themselves without any judgment. Also, I want to
motivate kids to achieve their full potential and advocate for many issues that affect them,
including domestic violence, drug and substance abuse, lack of education, and access to quality
healthcare. Many children suffer from mental health issues such as anxiety and anger issues,
especially those that come from abusive homes, neglect, and homes with drug and substance
abuse issues. My current major in psychology is engaging and equips me with the knowledge
and skills needed to become an effective mental health counselor in the future.
