, INTERPRETATION OF DAOISM
Introduction
For more than 2000 years, Daoism also spelled as Taoism along with Confucianism has
shaped the Chinese culture. We may begin the resolution of perplexity by recognizing Daoism as
an indigenous Chinese religion-philosophical tradition deeply rooted in traditional Chinese
culture. Daoism arose from a demand for efficient and creative ways of governing the Chinese
population when the Zhou dynasty began to fall apart. As the dynasty crumbled, the officials
who had worked within the courts and government of the regime began to spread out and teach
their version of how to most efficiently govern people. Communally, all of their ideas became
known as the hundreds school of thoughts, and Daoism was one the hundred schools. We may
begin by recognizing Daoist’s as adherents of Daoism. Daoist’s are individuals connected or
having some connection to the religious tradition. Characterized by diversity, this tradition has
such diversity, and these includes communities, movements various prominent figures and texts.
Although there are many interpretations of Daoism, both Confucianism and Daoism/Taoism are
the most popular philosophies ever observed, not only by the native Asian dwellers but also by
many people around the world. Confucianism is more established here on Earth for the reason
that of it is connectioned to the immediate society while Daoism is more including as it relates
to man’s association to the entire world.
Laozi was a great philosopher and a thinker in ancient China. He is the founder of
Daoism and his teaching is grounded on a huge underlying belief, the “way” or “Dao.” This is
one of the fundamental Daoist ideas and concerns, the others being wowed or “effortless action,”
ziran or “naturalness,” zhenren “perfected person,” “sage” how to become a shengren and of
course the ineffable, mysterious Dao “way” itself (Levenson, 2013). Dao is the cradle of all
existence, the head of all life, person and natural. Dao is an ideal reality that is beyond the range
of human senses that we perceive. There is no way to captured it. Dao is the source of the world,
