Section 1. PRECAUTIONS
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Read these instructions completely and carefully.
WARNING
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• This refrigerator has 360° rotating casters. To prevent rolling or skidding while moving the unit, make sure to secure it firmly.
• Due to the weight and size of this refrigerator, and to reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the product, a minimum
of four people are required to bring the unit into the home, and two people are required for proper installation.
• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
• These refrigerators use icemakers manufactured specifically for these models, and are to be installed only by the
manufacturer or its service agent.
• Never put fingers or other objects into the dispenser hole and ice chute. This may cause personal injury or damage the unit.
• Do not use or store inflammable gas or volatile substances near or in the refrigerator; there is a risk of explosion or fire.
• Do not install the refrigerator in a damp location or where it may come into contact with water. There is a risk of electrical
shock or fire.
• Do not place fingers or hands on the automatic ice making mechanism (if so equipped) while the refrigerator is plugged in.
This will protect you from personal injury.
WARNING
ELECTRICAL WARNINGS
• Unplug the refrigerator before making any repairs.
• Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, turn the master control switch to O (OFF), unplug the refrigerator, or turn off power at
the circuit breaker or fuse box in order to avoid contact with a live wire filament. (A burned-out light bulb may break when
being replaced.)
• Do not plug any other appliances into the same outlet as the refrigerator.
• If the wall socket is loose, do not insert the power plug.
• Make sure that the power plug is not squashed or damaged by the back of the refrigerator; a damaged power plug may
overheat and cause fire.
• When moving your refrigerator away from the wall, be careful not to roll over or damage the power cord.
• Do not bend the power cord excessively or place heavy articles on it. This is a fire hazard.
• Do not insert the power plug with wet hands; you may receive an electric shock.
• Do not disconnect the power plug by pulling on the cord. Damage to the cord may cause a short circuit, fire or electric shock.
• The manufacturer, a certified service agent or qualified service personnel, must replace a damaged power cord.
• If the refrigerator is disconnected from the power supply, wait for at least five minutes before restarting it.
• When there is thunder or lightening or when the product is not used for a long time, flip up the grill panel and set the power
switch to the O (OFF) position.
• Turn off the power switch before changing or repairing the electro-control system.
• Use genuine Kenmore parts during changing of electro-control system.
• If you find moisture in the electro-control system, change or clean and insulate the part.

USE OF ADAPTER PLUGS AND EXTENSION CORDS
• Do not use extension cords for regular use of this appliance. This is a fire hazard, even if the cord is rated for appliance
use.
• If you cannot locate the refrigerator near an existing outlet, it is best to run a dedicated electrical line to service the
refrigerator.
• Do not use an adapter plug to avoid using a grounded outlet.
WARNING
PROPER DISPOSAL OF THE REFRIGERATOR
• To prevent child entrapment and suffocation when disposing your refrigeration product:
▶ Remove the doors
▶ Leave the shelves in place so children will not climb inside
• The refrigerant used in the refrigerator/freezer and the gases in the insulation material require special disposal procedures.
Check with the disposal company in advance.
WARNING
GROUNDING THE REFRIGERATOR
FOR PERSONAL SAFETY, this appliance must be properly grounded. Please follow this grounding checklist:
• Your outlet and its circuit must be properly grounded. Have them checked by a qualified electrician.
• If you do not have a three-prong outlet, have one installed by a qualified electrician.
• Never remove the grounding pin from the power cord.
• Never use an adapter plug.
• Never use an extension cord.

, ◆ INSTALLATION SPACE INFORMATION
After selecting an installation space:
1) Measure the door clearances to make sure the refrigerator can be moved though the house
to the installation space.
2) Measure the installation area for proper ventilation and wall clearances as shown the
illustrations* Below (Page 3, installation manual) here.
