Update with Complete Solution
Good afternoon,
My name is Kristina, and today, I’ll discuss the Assistant Day of Wedding Event
Coordinator position I applied for. I was first attracted to The Springs Event Center
because of the values and culture of the company. The company was started in
2001 by Larry Kruzie and is still operated by him and his family to this day. In my
opinion, to be a successful wedding venue everyone needs to feel like they’re a
part of a family. I believe that The Springs Event Center achieves just that.
The company has come a long way since opening in 2001. Seven unique venue
styles in 3 different locations is quite a bit. Even though I’ve applied for the
Houston area, I would love to visit the other locations in Dallas and Oklahoma. I
hope that throughout the training process, I'll get the chance to see at least the
other Houston locations.
I’m currently enrolled at Western Governors University pursuing a bachelor’s
degree in business administration. I have 3+ years of experience in customer
service/hospitality with 2+ years in education. In both of my roles as a medical
administrator and substitute teacher, I have been able to improve my skills such as
communication, adaptability, and conflict resolution. Being an admin assistant and
working closely with the nurses and doctors allowed me to hone my teamwork
skills. While being a substitute teacher forced me to work by myself. Substituting
also allowed me to further improve taking initiative when needed.
I believe I’d be a great fit to fill the position because I can demonstrate
professional communication as well as showing empathy and sympathy while still
being professional when talking to clients. I’ve always had an interest in wedding
planning, and I believe taking on this role will allow me to fulfill my want to help
others. I’m always finding new ways to learn something new whether it be in a
team setting or an individual setting.
Without teamwork in the position, things would be chaos. The bride and groom
wouldn’t get their big day without stress, the company wouldn’t be successful, and
all parties involved would be left feeling unhappy and unsatisfied. In my previous
role as an admin in a stand-alone ER, I was an important member of the team.
There was one night when a patient came in complaining of severe abdominal pain
while being five months pregnant. The faster I registered and checked her in the
faster she could get to the back to be seen. After I got her checked in, I took her
chart to the nurse and expressed a need for her to be seen urgently. With help from
the nurses and I, we were able to convey the urgency to the doctor. I was tasked
with keeping the patient's husband informed of what was going on and keeping
him calm. After an hour the nurse came to me and told me I needed to put in for a
transfer to the hospital due to no fetal movement. I quickly put in the transfer and
took the initiative to gather the patient's belongings and have them ready for the
husband to take with him. I believe my team was successful in helping save the
patient's baby by moving with efficiency and purpose. By having good
communication between all team members, we were able to get the patient the
proper help she needed. While my role was small, compared to the trained medical
staff, I still had a very huge impact on the outcome. Without me the husband
would've been asking the nurses questions instead of letting them work and the
transfer to the hospital would’ve never happened. No matter what role I play in the
