Make sure that you use authentic examples (from real life) so that learners understand what you are talking about before moving on to the new topic.  Make sure you use local, contextual methods of teaching. In other words, Africanise the curriculum by using African examples that learners know and understand. Bring in Ubuntu perspectives by including collaborative activities such as group work or pair work and so forth.  Let the learner be actively engaged in the lesson by facilitating the lesson rather than directing it as a whole class discussion.
