WGU D082 Task 2: Management | with Accurate
Solutions
My top core values are accountability, honesty, integrity, and respect.
Accountability and honesty go hand in hand with me, while integrity and
respect are closely intertwined.
To be held accountable means that one needs to own their mistakes and
stand by their decisions, regardless of what others think. Whether the
decision you made was the right or wrong choice, acknowledging the
decision and taking ownership means that you’re taking accountability. It
also means that you’re being honest with yourself and others. To be able to
be accountable means that you are willing to learn and grow from the
decisions you make.
Being honest not only means being honest with the world and others, but
more importantly, being honest with yourself. If you can’t be honest, you
won't be able to be held accountable for decisions that were made, whether
they were right or wrong. Not being honest causes a wedge between
people, leaders, and businesses. I know if I were the CEO of a corporation, I
would rather work with an honest small business than an untrustworthy
corporation. Being honest helps foster a healthy and non-hostile workplace.
I think it’s essential to have respect in the workplace, regardless of personal
feelings. Being respectful isn’t just being nice and kind; it’s giving your full
attention, replying with genuine answers, being honest, and stepping up to
the plate when needed. Both team members and management need to have
respect for each other. It’ll make the workplace more pleasurable and less
hostile.
Integrity is the most important to me of them all. To have integrity is to be
true to yourself despite what others say and how the world treats you. If you
can’t keep your integrity, you’re showing that you can’t be respectful,
honest, and held accountable for your actions.
All of these core values are important to me because they make me who I
am. Without them, I would be wandering around lost, not knowing who I am
and what value I bring to the world.
In this scenario, I can see one misalignment. The first one I noticed is
the lack of respect. The leaders don’t seem to respect the team members
and their innovations. The leaders only look at the team members as a
means to higher profits instead of actual people with valuable ideas. They
