Class notes SOLMEC 403 (Seepage)
Seepage refers to the movement of water through the voids (pores) of soil under the influence of a hydraulic gradient. It occurs when there is a difference in water head between two points in the soil mass. The flow of water through soil is governed by Darcy’s Law, which states that the rate of flow is directly proportional to the hydraulic gradient and the permeability of the soil. The notes contains sample Problems that can help understand how the theory applies on the problems.
