APPENDIX A: LETTER TO THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
UNISA | College of Education
RE: REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO CONDUCT TEACHING PRACTICE
The purpose of this letter is to formally request permission for your school to host a
UNISA student teacher for the prescribed teaching practice period.
In accordance with UNISA policy, all BEd, PGCE and Diploma students are required to
complete teaching practice in an accredited school environment. This component of
teacher training allows student teachers to integrate theoretical knowledge with
authentic classroom practice. Such exposure is essential for the development of
professional competence, ethical conduct, and practical teaching skills.
Student teachers are expected to participate fully in the daily life of the school and to
comply with all internal policies, procedures, and professional expectations. This
includes adherence to school routines, classroom management standards, and
professional conduct at all times.
We respectfully request your support in accommodating the student listed below and in
providing appropriate mentorship through the allocation of a qualified mentor teacher.
