Practice period. Teaching Practice plays a critical role in preparing student teachers for
the realities of the classroom, and this preparation is only possible under the
supervision and mentorship of experienced educators such as yourself.
Your contribution to the professional development of our students is invaluable, and
UNISA sincerely appreciates your willingness to share your time, expertise, and
guidance.
We kindly request your assistance with the following:
• Please meet formally with the student at least once per week to discuss progress
made and to plan for the following week.
• Please allow the student to observe your lessons and complete observation
reports as required in the portfolio.
• Please assist the student in working systematically through the portfolio to
ensure that all sections are completed within the 25-day Teaching Practice
period.
• Please support the student with lesson preparation and allow them to present
lessons under your supervision.
• Please provide constructive feedback after each lesson presented.
• Please assess three independently presented lessons and complete the
required assessment forms included in this portfolio.
• Please complete a brief report on the student’s conduct, professionalism, and
participation during the Teaching Practice period.
