2009). It is about connecting the past to the present and relates to the
future purpose in life.
The inability to connects and have a meaningful existence can results
in fear, meaninglessness, guilt, emptiness and
death(PsychothereapyNet, 2009). There are two existential problems
that is related to humanistic-existential. The existential anxiety is
expected to be normal and the individual is required to be courageous
in order to have a full balance of the world. This might be a challenge
but not pathological as it is part of human condition which can be
appropriate to situations (Grande,2009).
The other problem is Neurotic anxiety which is inappropriately based
on the situation and disproportionately could be caused because of
existential problems. At any rate, the individual needs to seek help in
order to get through what causes the anxiety and how to get over it,
this can be achieved through talking to the Counsellor or
psychotherapy for support.
The Humanistic therapist should be an attentive listeners, be reflective,
non-judgmental, and genuinely empathetic. He/she should recognize
that during the therapy, client could be resistant and showing
transference and anger. This could be addressed though an improved
communication, allowing patient to take his responsibility for his
decisions and goals and maintain therapeutic alliance. The therapist
needs to understand the clients feelings, thoughts and emotions which
will help with an open communication and empathy Bugental, 2008).
Differences between Humanistic-existential and Cognitive Behavioral
Therapies(CBT).

human personality, purpose as it related to the outside world and the
meaning of life. It focuses on past, mitigating it with the present and
find a solution for the future. Humanistic-existential is not about what
the individual will need right now but how the person can use inner
strength to cope with anxiety or any impeding problems and to
