RESUMEN
La identificación de las rocas más frecuentes es indispensable para adquirir el
conocimiento básico del sustrato en que nos movemos, que condiciona el desarrollo de los
vegetales (y secundariamente el de los animales) y del que extraemos las materias primas para
todas nuestras actividades (construcción, abonos, industrias químicas y farmacéuticas y
combustibles). Se ofrecen aquí algunas su- gerencias sobre cómo conseguir un aprendizaje
significativo sobre esta cuestión; cómo situarlo en una perspectiva de solución de enigmas
intrigantes o problemáticos que suponen un desafío a la mente del alumno y cuya solución le
produce satisfacción; y cómo hacerlo progresivamente, se supone que en la Enseñanza
Universitaria se puede completar todo lo que quede por aprender.

ABSTRAC
The identification of the most frequent rocks and minerals is issential in order to acquire the
basic knowledge of the substratum where we move; it conditions the development of
vegetation (and seconda- rily that of animals), and we extract from it the raw materials for all
our activities (construction, fertili- zers, chemical and pharmaceutical industries,
combustibles).
In this paper some suggestions are offered with regard to (1) how to achieve a significant
learning about this matter; (2) how to place it in a perspective of intriguing or problematic
questions which entail a cha- llenge to the learner’s mind and whose solution is satisfying for
him, and (3) how to do it progressively, from Primary to nowadays Bachiller courses (it is
supposed that University Education can complete all what remains to be learnt).
