Both solicitors and barrister roles are similar as they both are legal
professionals who work in the criminal justice system. They both do advise
clients on the law; they represent clients in court, even though barristers
specialize more in courtroom advocacy. And they both follow the
professional rules, and they act in the client’s best interests. The differences
in both are that solicitors are the first point of contact for most clients; they
work directly with the clients, handle paperwork, and legal documents. They
work in a law firm, and they represent the magistrate's court. The difference
for barristers is that they become involved in being contacted by a solicitor,
they specialize in courtroom advocacy, and they can represent in the courts,
especially in the crown court and the upper ones.
Daily task and nature of work:
The similarities of both solicitors and barristers for the daily tasks and the
nature of the work are that they both meet with clients and give them legal
advice. They both prepare legal documents such as notes and legal
arguments. They both research the law and check any relevant legislation.
And they both need to prepare for the court. The differences are that for
solicitors they work directly with clients, they handle any paperwork letters
and statements. They organize all the evidence and prepare the cases, and
they work in an office or a law firm mostly. The differences for barristers are
that they receive all the cases from the solicitors, the focus on advocacy;
they prepare legal arguments before the morning of court. Also, they are
self-employed.

Both solicitor and Barrister earn the same, but it depends on how much
experience they have and the location. The differences are that solicitors
earn on average £55,200 a year, but the newly qualified ones do earn
around £28,000. Barristers earn about £89,200 a year. So, they do earn
more than solicitors.
