Arthrography is a diagnostic imaging procedure in which a contrast medium is
injected directly into a joint cavity to visualize and evaluate the internal structures
of the joint, such as cartilage, ligaments, menisci, labrum, synovium, and joint
capsule, using X-ray, CT, or MRI imaging techniques.
Indications
Arthrography is performed to:
• Detect ligament tears
• To check for damage from repeated dislocation of the joint
• Assess cartilage defects
• Joint pain
• Detect loose bodies
• Evaluate post-operative joints
• Joint inflammation

• Shoulder (most common)
• Knee
• Hip
• Elbow
• Wrist
• Ankle
CONTRA INDICATION
• Suspected pregnancy
• Allergy to contrast media ‘
• Acute arthritic attack
• Patient have asthma and diabetes
• Recent joints fracture
