• The educational literature uses a proliferation of
terms, rather loosely and often interchangeably, to
signify terminal expectations of education.
• Educators speak of “outcomes,” “aims,” “ends,”
“purposes,” “functions,” “goals,” and “objectives.”
“Aims” are equated with “ends,” “purposes,”
“functions,” and “universal goals.”
