Review of Related Literature and Study
This study shows the related studies and related literature of the researchers that
may help the students for managing their time.
Local Study
a. Galiher (2015) and Darling (2015), used GPA to measure student performance
because the main focus in the student performance for the particular semester.
Some other researchers used test results or previous year result since they are
studying performance for the specific subject. Many researchers have
discussed the different factors that affect the student academic performance in
their research. There are two types of factors that affect the students’ academic
performance. These are internal and external classroom factors and these
factors strongly affect the students’ performance. Internal classroom, factors
include students competence in English, class schedules, class size, English
text books, class test results, learning facilities, homework, environment of
classes, complexity of the course material, teachers role in the class,
technology used in the class, and exams systems. External classroom factors
include extracurricular activities, family problems, work and financial, social
and other problems. Research studies shows that students’ performance
depends on many factors such as learning facilities, gender and age
differences that can affect student performance. Harb and El-Shaarawi, 2015
, found out that the most important factor with positive effect on students’
performance is Parental Involvement. From the study entitled “Psychological
Faactors Affecting the learners’ academic performance of intermediate
students in Amungan Elementary School School year 2013-2014 by Rodelito
Aramay.
Synthesis
The Student Performance is similar to (Time optimization: di ko na alam
kasunod) because researchers discussed the factors that affect student
academic performance and how this factor get involved in other students
when it comes to their studies. While the difference of the Student
Performance to the (title natin) there are some studies shows that
students‘performance depends on many factors such as facilities, gender and
age difference.
b. Time management is the conservation of time to match people’s needs and
wants. People decide on what activities to be included for the day, week,
moth, or year. Time management can reflect a person’s personal goal, at home
and at work. (Candelario, 2005). Also Candelario defined time management as
the use of time that is available in the most productive manner. The
development of a clear objective for a job, and the identification of activities
that will help accomplish and can lead the manager toward greater
effectiveness. No matter how well something is done, it has no value if it fails
to contribute directly or indirectly to the achievement of objectives. This was
entitled as “Time management and Science achievement” by Vic Santiago.
, Synthesis
The (Students who didn’t manage time properly may cause stress and will
out of focus) is similar to (Students negatively affect life and academics for
not having good time management) because they talk about the good and
proper time management that the students really need when it comes on doing
something. And the differences of these two studies are the effects of not
having a good time management. The one may affect its stress level and lead
in lack of concentration while the other can affect its academics for having a
better life in the future.
c. The study determined the time management skills of Level-IV Letran Nursing
students. In light of the findings, the researchers therefore concluded that the
respondents had a time-attitudes time management skill. The researchers also
learned that the head nursing clinical performance of the respondents was
84.70%. On the other hand, there was no significant relationship between
the time management skill and clinical performance of the respondents. But
there was a significant relationship between the number 3 and 5 questions of
the long-term time management skill as to the clinical performance of the
respondents. Future researchers could extend studies on adapting different
time management skills and determining factors related to the clinical
performance of the students, such as academic performance and co-curricular
activities. This was entitled as “Time Management Skills Related To Clinical
Performance Among Level-Iv Nursing Students Of Colegio De San Juan De
