The work setting described in this paper will be that of acute clinician nurses and the
work they involve themselves in which includes providing dialysis treatments on patients in a
hospital setup. Acute clinician nurses utilize key team care models allowing them provide
patients with the highest optimal direct care with great levels of autonomy and quality. Acute
clinician nurses therefore have to always collaborate together with other interdisciplinary teams
as part of a team care that provide the best quality care maximizing optimal clinical outcomes in
the process. Thus, these nurses at all times must provide care based on Compassion, Advocacy,
and Resilience, that is founded on Evidence-Based Practice not only to improve collaboration
with others but also to highpoint their commitment in providing patient-centered care. One such
improvement that nurses can accomplish is in their clinical setting being able to contribute in
assisting patients in processes of continuity with care and also the transition of the dialysis
treatment from acute hospital to prolonged outpatient situation.
Compassion
In the practice of nursing, especially in acute clinician nursing, providing care with
compassion is essential and is not just related to a patient’s clinical outcome and satisfaction but
also plays a major role in enhancing good working conditions with other inter-professional
multidisciplinary teams. Giving care with compassion creates synchronization of workflow
which results into safe work environments at the workplace. Through active listening, building
therapeutic relationships, and addressing our patients concerns and those of their family
members is the only way we can demonstrate care and compassion. Moreover, providing patients
with more information that are reinsuring eases them during their treatments while improving
