What is a noun?
A noun is a naming word. It names a person, place, thing, or idea.
Types of nouns
1 Common Noun: General name of a person, place, or thing. Examples: teacher, city, book, car
2 Proper Noun: Specific name and always starts with a capital letter. Examples: Ali, London,
Monday, Pakistan
3 Concrete Noun: Things we can see, touch, hear, smell, or taste. Examples: table, apple, dog,
water
4 Abstract Noun: Ideas, feelings, or qualities we cannot touch. Examples: happiness, love,
honesty, bravery
5 Collective Noun: Name of a group of people, animals, or things. Examples: team, family,
class, herd

3 Nouns can be the subject or object in a sentence.
Examples in sentences
