Introduction
Communicable disease refers to an infection spread from one individual to another via a
variety of methods that include breathing in an airborne virus and getting into contact with
contaminated blood and bodily fluids. Besides, it may be transmitted by an insect bite. It is also
an illness that results from an infection, presence, and development of pathogenic biological
agents in a person or other animal host. This paper discusses the notions of epidemiology and
nursing research on tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis Communicable Disease
An excellent example of infectious disease is tuberculosis. It is an infectious disease that
affects the lungs. The infection is contagious and may spread to other body parts like the spine
and brain. Moreover, it is caused by a bacterium that may be transmitted from one individual to
another person via contaminated droplets from TB infected persons.
Causes of tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is initiated by bacteria known as mycobacterium. The bacteria may be
spread by coughing and even talking with infected individuals since they may release the
bacteria into the surrounding air. Also, the infection may be spread from one person to another
by breathing in the contaminated air. For instance, a family member with active TB disease
living in the same house with other households may spread the infectious disease when speaking
or laughing.
Symptoms of TB
There are several signs of TB, including coughing, that last three or more weeks. In some
cases, TB patients cough blood. Besides, the TB disease is characterized by chest pain or pain
