Unit 2 Assignment CJ150 The Evolution of the Juvenile Justice System CJ150 The Evolution of the Juvenile Justice System In this paper I will talk briefly about the history and evolution of the juvenile justice system. I will cover at least three milestones in the evolution of the juvenile justice system as well as give at least three significant examples of the historical evolution of the juvenile justice system. Then to sum it all up I will give my opinion regarding the effectiveness of the current juvenile justice system that we have in place. To begin with since 1899 the juvenile justice system has grown and changed. In the beginning children were not only housed with adults but were also tried and punished as adults. Houses of refuge were the first primary institutions for poor delinquent youths. The houses were organized using a mili
