Authority1and1the1Bar1Standards1Board1as1a1Qualifying1Law1Degree.1The1LLB11programme1consists1
of1three1pathways:1the1general1LLB1and1the1LLB1Business1Law1and1LLB11Law1with1Psychology.11

Each1pathway1covers1the1seven1common1core1subjects,1as1prescribed1by1the1professional11bodie
s.1In1addition1to1these1compulsory1subjects,1and1as1an1institution,1BPP1Law1School1has11made1E
nglish1Legal1System1and1Reasoning,1Legal1Skills1and1Legal1and1Professional1Ethics11core1mod
ules1from1September12012.1This1reflects1the1importance1of1skills1and1ethics1training11within1all1
the1undergraduate1degree1programmes.1Alongside1the1common1core1modules11there1are1numer
ous1electives1that1students1can1select.1However,1with1the1Business1Law11pathway,1the1choice1of1
electives1is1restricted1to1those1that1would1support1practice1within1a11commercial1sphere.11

The1programme1has1been1designed1to1allow1a1high1degree1of1flexibility1in1both1the1mode1of11study,1e
.g.1full1time1or1part1time1classes,1face1to1face1contact1or1via1online1provisions1such1as11Wimba1classes
;1and1the1study1time1for1completion1(the1degree1can1be1completed1between1211
–161years).1The1two1year1accelerated1programme1is1studied1over161consecutive1semesters11
(There1are1three1semester1in1an1academic1year,1commencing1in1September,1January1and11May).1
The1standard1three1year1programme1involves1students1studying1in1the1first1two11semesters1in1an1
academic1year,1with1the1third1semester1free1for1vocational1placements,11employment,1etc.1Part1ti
me1students1study1between141and161years1depending1upon1their11employment,1lifestyle,1commit
ments1etc.1Most1students1study1in1the1classroom1over1two11evenings1per1week1or1via1the1on-
line1provisions.1The1entire1LLB1programme1can1be1studied11on-
line1(or1Distance1Learning)1utilising1recorded1lectures,1electronic1tutorials1and1interactive,11sync
hronised1tutorials1(known1as1Wimba1classes).1In1addition,1students1can1‘blend’1their11studies1dep
ending1upon1their1own1individual1circumstances,1e.g.1moving1between1the11different1modes.11

The1programme1is1studied1over1three1levels1(4,151and161representing1the1standards1set1by11the1
National1Qualification1Framework1(NQF)).1These1academic1modules1become11progressively1
more1challenging1as1a1student1progresses1through1the1levels.1Each1module1is11worth1either1151
or1301credits1depending1upon1the1notional1number1of1study1hours1needed1to11successfully1com
plete1the1course,1e.g.1a1151credit1module1equates1to11501notional1study11hours.11
The1LLB1programmes1have1been1specifically1designed1to1provide1both1a1solid1grounding1in11the
1academic1study1of1law1and1the1development1of1legal1skills1students1may1require1in11practice.1Th
e1overarching1philosophy1of1the1LLB1Team1is1the1desire1to1intertwine1the1study11of1law,1as1a1disc
ipline,1within1a1vocational1and1applied1setting.1Essentially,1the1students1do11not1just1know;1they1
