Introduction to Cybersecurity
and Digital Forensics
Cybersecurity - CIA, Threats, Attacks and Vulnerabilities, Malware and itscategories,
Cryptography, Internet, Protocols and securities, Security Technology - Malware scanner, IDS,
Firewall.
Security Information and Event Management and SIEM Tools;
Forensics – crimes and incidents; Forensic Process – identification, collection and examination;
Tracing Internet Data – ping and port Scan, browser cache, history and cookies; Cybercrime
Law
, 🔐 CYBERSECURITY
• Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computers, networks, programs, and
data from unauthorized access, attacks, or damage.
Why Cybersecurity is Important?
• Protects personal data
• Prevents financial loss
• Ensures business continuity
• Protects national security
, CIA Triad (Core of Cybersecurity)
The CIA Triad is a fundamental security model that guides how information
should be protected. CIA stands for Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability.
🔹 C – Confidentiality : Ensures information is accessible only to authorized users.
How it is achieved:
• User authentication (username & password)
• Encryption
• Access control (permissions)
• Firewalls
🔹 I – Integrity : Ensures data is accurate and not altered without permission.
, 🔹A – Availability : Ensures systems and data are available when needed.
• Examples: 1. Backup systems
2. Load balancing (operating system)
3. DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection : huge traffic
to make it unavailable.
CIA = Protect data from being read, changed, or made unavailable
