DCM2 Task 2: Organization and Leadership Evaluation
A. Organization and Leadership Description
Organization Description
For this evaluation, I will refer to the organization as MetroWave Communications, a
large national telecommunications provider. MetroWave is one of the top three telecom firms in
the United States, offering wireless communication solutions, mobile devices, high-speed
internet services, and business-grade broadband to consumers and commercial clients. The
company’s offerings range from retail sales of mobile plans and devices to advanced fiber and
broadband infrastructure for home and business use.
My experience with MetroWave spans two major roles over several years. Most
recently, I worked as a Sales Executive in the organization’s business-to-business (B2B)
division. I focused on providing small and mid-sized companies with customized wireless and
broadband solutions. Although this role was brief—approximately three months—it provided
deep insight into MetroWave’s corporate sales and account management approach. Before that,
I spent five
years in the company’s retail channel, including several years as a Store Manager. In that
leadership role, I led frontline retail teams, achieved sales targets, and delivered exceptional
customer service within a fast-paced and highly competitive environment.
A1. Leadership Practices
The current leader I worked under at MetroWave Communications in the B2B division
demonstrated several consistent leadership behaviors aligned with a transactional leadership
style. While he had been in leadership for several years, his approach appeared reactive and still
in development, particularly in response to shifting executive expectations after a new assistant
vice president was appointed.
