A1. Organizational Culture

The organizational culture of the US fishing boat manufacturer (USFBM) follows a
concept that goes along with the clan dimension. This concept creates an open

an advantage for USFB as it creates collaboration across all levels of the

The organizational structure of USFBM is decentralized, which aligns with the
concept of a flat organization. This type of concept means there are no management
levels between staff and founders. The idea behind this model is that well-trained
employees will be productive without direct supervision and be more directly
involved in the decision-making process (Innovative and Strategic Thinking, 2020).
Giving all staff in the organization more autonomy will lead to rapid adaptation and
innovation by increasing teamwork among stakeholders. Consequently, the
company will benefit from this model by gaining market share thanks to its teamwork
approach.

The organizational culture implemented by USFBM is mainly focused on
collaboration, which aligns with a clan approach. The company employs a
decision-making process that is based on cooperation. They bring new ideas by
allowing multiple stakeholders, customers, and innovators to challenge their
product designs. By including individuals from diverse backgrounds, USFBM
meets the needs of its customers.

b. Organizational structure

The company has a flat and decentralized organizational structure. This
approach has an excellent foundation for teamwork, where all employees
participate in the decision-making process. Everyone in the organization can
access the founders if help is needed. The company values everyone’s opinions

, and ideas, increasing its relationships with its peers. Another advantage of their
structure is that it increases trust across the organization. Trust is an essential
asset that every company should try to build into its culture.

c. Mission and vision statements
The company's mission and vision statements are based on innovation. This
means the main idea is to remain competitive and sustainable thanks to their
clan model. It is noticeable that their mission statement will make the company
successful. Therefore, it serves as the basis for their vision, which states
becoming the most sustainable company in the industry (Western Governors
University, n.d.).


d. Ethical statement
The manufacturer’s ethical statement directs decision-making by protecting
customers and the environment. The point is to have social responsibility and
sustainability at all levels. This statement can also encourage employees to do a
better job by understanding that the company has a strong ethical commitment.
Therefore, the company will drive all decisions by considering uncertainties and
risks in the industry.

B. Innovations
B1. Characteristics
Emerging market characteristic #1:

Fishing is an essential industry in India, and millions benefit from it. Entering this
market with the first foldable boat in the country would be a game changer for the
area. Most fishers in India use nonmechanical boats and traditional practices. Using
foldable boats is excellent for fishers since they can carry their boats from home to
the water without any issues. Entering this market with a new design could mean
that competition will be at its lowest point.

Emerging market characteristic #2:

Laws and regulations are another emerging market characteristic for USFBM. The
nation is in favor of nonmechanical boats for fishing purposes. The main goal for
India is to avoid disrupting the ecosystem and preserve them at the same time. The
foldable boats designed by USFBM can be recycled, which would also favor the
regulations in India. The laws established by the nation would greatly support the
introduction of vessels created by the US fishing boat manufacturer.
