everybody goes home
what is safety on job sites?
Big jobs will have a safety manager (OSHA), the safety
manager will over look the job site but is not the only one
responsible
OSHA
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, it is a vital
law that was passed in the 1970s, every company has one,
The Contractor has to allow full access to the job site, OSHA
can give penalties.
OSHA penalties
, Other than serious violations (Non life-threatening) can be up to
7k per violation. Serious Violations (Death or life threatening)
that the contractor did not know about up to 7k per violations,
Willful violations (serious or life threatening) that they
contractor knew about can be up to 70k-500k per violation and
may also include criminal charges
PPE
Personal Protective equipment-EX. steel toes boots, gloves,
safety glasses, hard hat, reflective vest, etc
3 v's for an effective safety plan?
Vocal (Single voice in all meetings), Vigorous (any safety
violation you enforce), Visible (always wear the gear)
How does management follow OSHA on job sites?
Commitment is needed from management, safety analysis,
procedures, everybody else has to follow, training itself is
needed
Tool Box meeting
A weekly meeting that goes over issues that were found main
topic is safety
How dangerous is Construction?
Leading cause of death in any occupation, it has over 400k
injuries a year and roughly 2k deaths a year
