Writing the Literature Review
Topic:
The topic of differentiation aligns with curriculum and instruction because teachers need
the proper training and skills to be able to differentiate instruction appropriately. To solve this
issue, we will develop a professional development program that will give teachers a set of
strategies that they can use in the classroom to help them better differentiate instruction.
Problem Statement:
There is a problem with general education teachers being able to successfully
differentiate instruction for special needs students in their classrooms. This negatively impacts
special needs students being able to successfully learn in the general education classroom. This
could be happening because general ed teachers do not have sufficient training in how to
differentiate instruction to help all students be successful.
Research Question:
How can the creation of a professional development on differentiation strategies
be created to address the problem of general education teachers not being able to
successfully differentiate instruction for special needs students in their classrooms?
Product Description:
The result of the capstone project will be a professional development program for
teachers to gain strategies to better differentiate instruction in their classrooms so that all students
can be successful in learning. This approach allows us to find out what teachers in my school are
specifically struggling with when it comes to differentiating instruction and then develop a PD
that focuses on providing them with differentiation strategies that can help them in the areas that
they are struggling with. I will be implementing various types of strategies to show teachers
