FUEL CELLS:
ADVANTAGES OF FUEL CELLS:
They produce zero or very low emissions,
especially green house gases.
Their efficiency is very high.
The individual cells can be stacked and connected
in series to generate higher voltages.
The fuel cells are free form vibrations ,heat
transfers, thermal pollution etc .,
They are reliable , maintainable and durable.
Maintenance cost is very low.
DISADVANTAGES OF FUEL CELLS:
Fuel cells do not store chemical energy.
Handling of hydrogen gas is dangerous.
Initial cost of fuel is high.
Electrodes are expensive.
Life time of fuel cell is not known accurately.
HYDROGEN-OXYGEN FUEL CELL:
ADVANTAGES OF H2-O2 FUEL CELLS:
Hydrogen is a basic earth element and it is readily
available.
It doesn’t produce harmful emissions.
Hydrogen is a non toxic substances which is rare
for a fuel source.
Fuel cells have higher efficiency than diesel or gas
engines.
