Activity 01: Lesson Objectives
Writing clear, effective lesson objectives is the first step in any well-planned lesson. As Bloom’s
Taxonomy demonstrates, objectives need to specify exactly what learners will do, not simply
what the teacher will cover (Anderson and Krathwohl, 2001). The A-SMART framework takes
this further, requiring that each objective begins with an action verb and is Specific, Measur-
able, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (MedEdPublish, 2024).

1.2 Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:
1. Identify at least five major bones in the human body by name, using a labelled diagram
(knowledge recall, within the 7-minute introduction).
2. Explain two functions of the skeletal system — support and protection — in their own
words, with reference to at least one concrete example from their daily lives (comprehen-
sion, by end of lesson).
3. Classify the bones discussed into two groups — long bones and flat bones — by correctly
sorting provided bone cards into the correct categories (application, assessed during the
closing activity).
