The Story of a Pot
“The Story of a Pot” tells us how a clay pot is made and about the hard work of a potter. A potter is
a person who makes pots using clay.
1 Clay – The First Step: Clay is dug from the earth. It is cleaned and mixed with water to make it
soft and smooth.
2 Making the Shape: The potter uses a potter’s wheel. The wheel spins round and round while
the potter shapes the clay into a pot with his hands.
3 Drying the Pot: The pot is kept in the sun to dry so it becomes harder.
4 Baking the Pot: The pot is baked in a hot oven called a kiln. The heat makes the pot strong
and ready to use.
Clay pots are used to store water, grains, and food. This lesson teaches us to respect the hard work
of potters.
Modes of Transport
Transport means moving people or goods from one place to another place. For example, going to
school by bus or sending goods by train.
1 Land Transport: Moves on land and roads. Examples: car, bus, train, bicycle, motorcycle,
truck.
2 Water Transport: Moves on water like rivers and seas. Examples: boat, ship, ferry, submarine.
3 Air Transport: Moves in the air and is the fastest way to travel. Examples: aeroplane,
helicopter, jet.
Transport is important because it helps people travel easily, move goods, connect cities and
countries, and save time.
