Parasitism as a form of interspecies interaction
Parasitism is a form of interaction between species where a parasitic
organism uses a living host not only as a source of food, but also as a
place of permanent or temporary habitation; a parasite causes harm to
its host.
Human parasites
The main criteria of parasitism
are:
1) a physical contact with the
host; Larva of botfly
Dysenteric
Tick amoeba
2) feeding on the host;
3) producing a pathogenic effect
on the host.

, CLASSIFICATION OF PARASITISM
We distinguish between true and false parasitism.
True parasitism has developed
between a host and a parasite in
the course of evolution (human
ascarids (1), liver fluke).
False parasitism occurs when a free- 1
living organism can become a
parasite entering the host’s body
either accidentally or when
environmental conditions change
(for example, some types of
amoebas - Naegleria (2),
Acanthamoeba).
