Exam Coverage
The exam coverage includes the foundational firefighting knowledge
assessed in Illinois Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Module A Exam,
administered by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. It focuses
on fire service orientation, firefighter safety, personal protective
equipment, fire behavior, and the basic organization of the fire service.
The exam also evaluates understanding of incident command
principles, communication procedures, and initial emergency
response practices. Emphasis is placed on safe firefighting operations,
teamwork, hazard recognition, and the fundamental responsibilities of
firefighters operating in the state of Illinois. 🚒🔥

supervisor. Moving up through the chain of command, all personnel
ultimately report to the Fire Chief.
Span of Control
Principle establishes the maximum number of subordinates or
functions that any one supervisor can control, typically 3 to 7.
