First Aid Box Contents

First aid appliance - the first aid boxes or cupboards shall be distinctively marked with
a red cross on white back ground and shall contain the following equipment

For factories employing more than fifty persons, each first aid box or cupboard shall
contain the following equipment. Also refer state specific Factory Rules/ OSHWC
Rules.

1. 24 small sterilized dressings 12. A bottle containing 100 tablets
(each of 5 grains) paracetamol /
combiflam or any other analgesic.
2. 12 medium size sterilized dressings 13. One polythene wash bottle (500 cc)
for washing eyes.
3. 12 large size sterilized dressings 14. Twelve roller bandages 10 cms.
wide
4. Sofratulle or paraffin 2 15. Twelve roller bandages 5 cms. wide.
5. Twelve (15 ml) packets if sterilized 16. Six triangular bandages
cotton wool
6. One (200 ml) bottle of Betadine 17. One tourniquet.
solution (1%) or a suitable antiseptic
solution.
7. One (200 ml) bottle of 18. A supply of suitable splints.

Provided that items (13) to (20) inclusive need not be included in the standard first aid
box or cupboard (a) where there is properly equipped ambulance room, or (b) if at
least one box containing such items and placed and maintained in accordance with the
requirements of section 45 are separately provided.

In lieu of the dressings required under items (1) and (2), there may be substituted
adhesive wound dressings approved by the Chief Inspector of Factories and other
equipment or medicines that may be considered essential and recommended by the
Chief Inspector of Factories from time to time.
