Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis
Give this one a try later!
Thickening of the interstitium of the alveolar walls which progresses to
fibrosis or scarring
Pathophys - decreased lung compliance, increased elastic recoil,
increased fibroblasts -> increased collagen -> scarring, decreased diffusion
capacity (thick fibrotic layer between alveoli and capillaries)
Inspection - dyspnea, increased RR + shallow breathing, dry unproductive
cough, clubbing, cyanosis, decreased chest expansion (bilat)
Palpation - increased TF (fibrotic lung is thicker)
Percussion - dull
Auscultation - late fine inspiratory crackles
ABGs - decreased PaO2, decreased PaCO2 (due to increased RR)
, CXR -small contracted lungs, raised diaphragm (bilaterally)
Acute Coronary Syndrome
Give this one a try later!
Spectrum of clinical presentations which result from impairments in the
blood supply to the heart
Myocardial ischemia
Give this one a try later!
Insufficient blood flow to the myocardium
Typically presents with angina
Pulmonary Embolism
Give this one a try later!
Blood clot that has been logged in a pulmonary artery
Commonly associated with DVT
Inspection:
Acute onset of dyspnea
Increased RR
Chest pain
May have cough with bloody sputum
