B Summary:
On a small island which can only be reached by low tide is the house 'eel marsh'. The people
who live in the nearby village know about the ghost in that house. But the evacuated
children don't know that. It was during the second world war that these children had to
evacuate. A friend of one of the women who went with the children knew an empty house
called 'eel marsh'. Once they arrived unharmed, everyone settled down in the house. The
children look for the best place to sleep and the women make something to eat.
After a day or two, one of the women notices something strange in the house. She doesn't
pay any further attention to it. But later that day something remarkable happens again but
she tries to ignore it. A day later, after a nice day with the children in the village further on,
she sees a woman with black clothes on in the attic in front of the window. This of course
confirms everything that has happened over the last few days, doesn't it? She goes upstairs
to the attic as soon as possible to find out what that woman needs. Once upstairs there is
nothing to be seen, just an attic like any other dark and cold.
Another day she walks a few rounds through the surrounding forest, thinking about the
woman she saw. When her thoughts wander off many crows scream and in the distance she
sees the previously seen woman. She runs after the woman but falls. In the night one of the
children wakes up and looks out in front of him there is a hole in the ceiling. Because it is a
very old house. He keeps looking and suddenly something comes out he doesn't know what,
because he immediately went with his head under the blankets.
A day later this little boy was lying dead on the coast of the island. The women are sorry but
one woman has a suspicion. Could this have something to do with that woman in black
clothes? She goes out to investigate in the village and nobody wants to talk about it. She also
notes that several children died that week in that village. A man does tell her the whole
story. He tells that there is some kind of curse on the house where she is staying with the
children. Every time someone sees the woman in black clothes, the woman makes a child
commit suicide.
The woman is frightened but doesn't tell anyone in the house. She has a plan to break the
curse. She wants to find the corpse of the woman's son in black clothes. When she has
actually found it with a lot of effort, the curse breaks.
