Section 1: Case Overview & Problem Statement
Case Problem Statement
A 20-year-old male presents to an outpatient clinic with laboratory capabilities with a chief complaint of
an eye problem. The clinician must conduct a thorough history and physical examination, formulate a
prioritized differential diagnosis, order appropriate diagnostic tests, and develop an evidence-based
management plan. The encounter requires the learner to distinguish between common and vision-
threatening causes of eye complaints in a young adult, apply clinical reasoning skills, and document
findings in a complete SOAP note.
