Operations Section - ANSWER -Until established as a separate section they will be
under direct control of the IC,
They can be further broken up in Branches and Divisions and/or Groups based on the
tasks needed
Planning Section - ANSWER -Develops Incident Action Plan.
Collect, evaluate and display info about the incident.
Maintain resource status info on all equipment.
Under the planning section is, Resources Unit, Situation Unit, Documentation Unit,
Demobilization Unit, and Technical Specialist
Logistics Section - ANSWER -Responsible for all services and support needs of the
incident including obtaining & maintaining personnel, facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Under the Service Branch they have a Communications Unit, Medical Unit, and Food
unit
Under Support Branch they have a Supply Unit, Facilities Unit and a Ground Support
Unit
Finance/Administration Section - ANSWER -Set up for any incident that may require on-
site financial management.
Under the Finance Section there is a Time Unit, Procurement Unit,
Compensation/Claims Unit, and a Cost Unit
Staging Area - ANSWER -Location where resources are kept while awaiting incident
assignment. The area will be managed by a Staging Manager. Works under the
Operations Unit. Resources must be available within 3 min to leave the staging area
Incident Action Plan (IAP) - ANSWER -Every incident MUST have an oral or written
action plan. It supplies direction for future actions, and must include measurable tactical
operations to be achieved
Incident Commander - ANSWER -The person in charge at an incident, they can have 1
or more deputies. They can appoint a command staff to maintain a proper span of
control during the incident
Command Staff - ANSWER -(S.I.L) Know as "officers". The command staff DO NOT
have deputies. They are not always needed but can be assigned depending on size of
the event
Information officer - ANSWER -The point of contact for the media. There will only be 1
