William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564, the day of his birth
remains uncertain, but we know from ancient records that he was baptised on the 26th so the
exact birthday should be a couple of days before, probably on the 23rd. William attended
Grammar School where he acquired a good knowledge of the English language and of classical
authors. He married Anne Hathaway at the age of 18 and had three children: Susanna, Judith
and Hamnet. He left Stratford and began an acting carrier in London where he initially had a
minor role in a theatre company, but then he distinguished himself for his skills as playwright. In
